May 2011 Topic

Hi All-

Haven't been on in a while as I went on my cruise. I lost 18.2 lbs before I left, gained 10 during my cruise (dang they have a lot of good food, how can you resist!?), and have lost 4 of it so far. I think all the dancing saved me! Sooo, now I am focused on losing the other 6 and getting back on track. My problem is finding more time in the day to do some good exercise. I do what I can but wish I could do more to get the weight off faster. Trying to console myself that 2 lbs per week is the healthy way but my patience of course gets in the way! :-)

I'm sorry for your loss, Trudslev, my thoughts are with you.

Techchic2010- hang in there! I also believe "this too shall pass".

Well I'm a little discouraged. I did good all week and still gained weight. I'm hoping to do better this week. I'm going to add more time to my work-outs. Other than that I don't know what else to do. I will keep tracking my food and try not to be too discouraged.

I am also sorry for your loss Trudslev, helps you realize what is important.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise. Yes, 2 lbs/week weight loss really is the max average to minimize loss of lean body mass while also keeping essential nutrients high while losing weight.
Best,
Kathy

Well, I sort of screwed up a bit. Gained a bit over 10 pounds this last month, because I relaxed on the recording, and since I didn't really feel like cooking we ate out a lot. I still exercised quite a bit in this period, so I must have seriously overeaten I think. But you can still overeat, a little at a time, if you know what I mean.

I am back with strict recording again, so I am not discouraged. Looking at the big picture I still lost a ton of weight, I'll just have a bit further to my goal :)

I hope you're all doing good.

Absolutely - keep the weight gain in perspective and in light of your amazing weight loss success!

So now you know for sure - regular tracking keeps you on track. The same happens to me, by the way.

Best,
kathy

And on a good not, I went to mt diabetes checkup. Every number was within the accepted ranges (liver, kidneys, cholesterol). My long term blood sugar was lower than ever (around 30 mmol/mol, which is an average of 5.4 mmol/l). So I was lowered to 14 units a day. Hopefully I can get completely off insulin at some point. :)

Not "not" but "note" ;)

Sune, that is truly phenomenal! That would be an HgA1C between 5-6%, correct?

Yes, I bet over time with values like that you might very well get off insulin. Good for you.

Best,
Kathy

Memorial Day holiday weekend....what are you all planning for this holiday?

I'm actually jogging/walking a 10K on Monday with my husband. We are just doing it for fun. Will go to one BBQ.

Best,
Kathy

Have a good holiday weekend, everyone!
Best,
Kathy
