What is it that keeps you motivated? I find that I'm an extremist. I get it in my head that I'm gonna start training and when I do start, I'm hardcore for a few days and then the motivation dwindles away. I find it hard to stay focused. My wife is not very supportive. I'm not a gym kind of person.

Hi,
This is a hard question to answer! I also struggle with motivation. My plan is to put the commitment-to-myself factor above the motivation factor (e.g. I don't want to, but I will). My hope is that the motivation will come as soon as I start seeing results!
Good luck with your plan!

I find going is the hardest part. If I just tell myself, "Ok, I am just going to walk a couple miles on the elliptical." it is easier to get to the gym. Once there, I usually feel inspired and end up doing more, but at the least, I am getting some calories burned with an easy walk.

I find reading fitness material helps to keep me motivated. I'm the same way, I'll be all rip roaring and ready to go for about 10 minutes then not so much. Keeping it in front of me all the time helps to keep my mind right.

I find that setting small goals to achieve helps me. Eg: just finished Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. Got amazing results and the work outs were fun and quick! Only 20min! Now doing TurboFire which is a 12 wks programme. Have also purchased JM ripped in 30, killer buns & thighs and extreme shed and shred. Small, short term goals will keep you motivated! Good luck:)
