Hi LaurieCee How are things going. I Had a good week with exercise and not so good with diet. I seemed to not be able to resist a lot of cravings this week. Still, averaged about 1700 cals a day. Try to do better next week. Some of my choices were very poor this week. Like chinese food one day, with sodium intakes out of this world. I try to stay around 2300 mg of sodium, and that day it was 13000. I was shocked. Thats what you get for your momentary lapses I guess.
Hope to hear from you soon. Joan

Hi JMS & Laurie
Firstly I want to compliment you both on maintaining the communication and facing your health challenges.
It's good to find an active group. I've popped in and out over the years but most groups looked quiet.
It's interesting and motivational reading your thoughts, challenges and experiences as it all helps
It's a challenging journey getting healthy but I believe worth it for the highs you get when you get there. Ive lost about 50lbs at present but it has been an up and down battle. At one point I lost 90lbs followed by a whole year of non focus & putting back on 50lbs
I'm on track again With the odd blip hear & there but aiming to lose a further 50lbs in stages by setting intermediate goals.
Hope to read more of your experiences and challenges
Best to all.

So glad to see your input. You sound like me with the struggle to stay motivated and stay on track. I really find the more people I can relate to the better I do.
This morning we had a 5 km Walk/run in our small town here. I am so proud to be part of a community that does things like this. On this rainy morning we had about 60 people turn out and we are only a pop of 150 in our town. I did my 5 km walk in 46 min and 15 sec. I was hoping to do it in under 45 min, but the rain and wind interfered a little. Still a good pace.
I welcome you Paul to join in with Laurie and me to try and reach out goals and whoever else wants to join in. Long term motivation is one of my biggest challenges and the more the merrier.
Like you I have lost about 60-65 lbs but at one point was down 80. I have never reached my goal and would really be exstatic if I ever got there. That would be a lose of 35 lbs from where I am now. But I am 100 times healthier than I was 10 years ago so take some comfort in that.
Looking forward to hearing from you again soon.
Joan

Hi Joan,
Great to hear from you.
It's very reassuring to hear and share your experiences. Well done on your exercise achievements also.
The last week has been odd. I previously set myself intermediate milestones on my way to achieving my overall goal. That way i stay motivated to hit the next stage in my health development. However with only 2lbs to go to this milestone my body decides not to play ball and my weight was creeping up marginally day by day even though my calorie intake was low.
Then today I weighed myself and was happy to have hit my next milestone with a drop of 2lbs.
To keep our motivation up, my wife and I have agreed milestones & forfeits. It's great because if you don't hit the milestone first and maintain it for 3 successive weight recordings then you have to do additional tasks around the house that you don't enjoy.
Keep in touch

That plan sounds like an excellent motivation pusher PAUL. I am thinking about how I might work something like that into my schedule. Have to talk to hubby. He does not usual diet with me, but maybe we3 could set some fitness goals. I love the idea of the additional unliked tasks Great idea. Also hope that milestone stayed in place for you. Terrific to have the 3 succesive weigh ins as well Well though out you guys.
Good start on my program this week, and I also had a pretty fair weekend. Like you say A journey. with all kinds of bumps in the road.
Sure sondering how Laurie is doing with the runnuing Hope she checks back in soon.

I had a ggod week this week, but have had to make a recommitement to eating better. I havve been really struggling with the diet end of things lately. It was great to see Big John return to this site. I hope he does well. Weight and the demons of poor choices in our lives can prove to be a real battle some time.
Still here trying to improve my health, and well being.

Hi Joan,
Hope the eating plan is going well. I've been busy helping my wife with her business so it's been quite a demanding 4 weeks.
How are things with you?
I have much work to do as u was facing a weight plateau & instead of punching through it, it got the better of me. So I need to get back on track and regain my purpose for doing this.
Hope you & others readers are all well.
Warm regards
Paul
