My first post. Hello Topic

Hello, my name is Gerbear and have had that nick-name since college. I started loosing weight in Jan of 2008 after reaching a high weight of 273. Over the past year i have gotten as low as 228, but stay around 240. I can't seem to get below that point and am getting very frustrated. I started using Mynetdiary.com a couple of months ago and i think it is a great tool. I realy enjoy the martial arts and do that and work out in the gym regularly, something every day, and I also ride a bike when it is warm enough. I benge a little sometimes, but not like i used to eat. Just can't understand how I could ever get to what the charts say I should be at, 160! ;lYea right, I would have to have some kind of deadly disease, and i don't want to loose weight that much! Anyway, I would love to chat with anyone and would offer my opinions if asked.

hope to hear form some of you!

Hi Gerbear,

I would say welcome except I think you have been here longer than me, I started march 20th or so? Hope you are doing well, is going good for me so far, my weight loss matches the slope on the graph. Feels slow sometimes, but realistic.

Good luck everybody. -scott m

Hi Scott, thanks for posting. My weight has been within the same 10# range for mounths. I am starting the P90X program in the morning with the rest of my stuff and changing the diet. What do you eat on an average day? What kind of exercise to you do?

Best Luck!

Hi, I follow the zone diet which means each time I eat it needs to be a certain balance of protein, fat, and carbohydrate. I jumped on it right when it first came out years ago (late 90's maybe?) and had huge success, got super lean, 9% body fat, had the ab thing going, the whole deal. Never felt better. Then, I took a long vacation from watching what I eat and paid the price in the form of about 40 pounds. So now I am going back to what I know, feels sort of like returning to an old friend in a way. The math and calculations is a big turn off for a lot of folks, but I kind of like it in a perverse way. I'm down about 8 in the last month which is a little ahead of schedule. Activity? Well, I took a long vacation from that, and.... I am still on vacation! I used to run and bike a lot, lift weights, got very in to taekwondo (brown blt), then that too all went out the window. Sort of had a mid life thing I guess. Anyway so far all I do is an hour walk once or twice a week, that is by far the biggest gap in my plan. I have no excuses that is for sure: My wife is a personal trainer, we have a gym in our house where she has clients. Pretty lazy right now, obviously if I can't work out under those conditions.

I will look into that diet. I have realy been stuck at the same point for a long time. TKD Huh? that is cool cause I just tested and recieved my Red Belt on Monday night. I also like to ride my bike, a Treseo, lift weights and do the whole thing. I find it harder to work out during the fall, it is the busiest time of the year for me at work, but come back to it in the spring and summer. anyway, I have lost about 40 pounds since Jan. of 2008, but not much change in the last couple of months. I am still eating too much I guess, but much better than before. Good luck and thanks for responding.
