I'm new here, and severely overweight, I have 100lbs to lose and am currently classed as morbidly obese. It's tough to get out there and walk and swim, it feels like everyone is judging me, but I really want to succeed.

Just go for it! I thought the same my first few times back at the gym. As I looked around I realized everyone was more focused on what they were doing. Even then person right next me on the treadmill!
Good Luck! I hope this helps :-)

The most important thing is that you are taking steps towards better health. You should be very proud of yourself! and do not care what others think!
Congrats and please do not be discouraged by others, it is not really worth it :) :) I am also obese and have to lose 85 pounds! but i still hit the Gym and enjoy my time :):)

Hey there, I just started too- 100 lbs to lose (well, 97 now!! wooo hooo), and like you I am really worried about gym etc. There are lots of options if you can't face it. DVD at home? Sky TV channels has fitness channels with all sorts of exercise classes you can do? Zumba class? Even being the size I am Zumba is fun- everyone is totally focused on the teacher as if you glance away then you find yourslef heading left while the rest of the class heads right! and to be honest at zumba EVERYONE is useless but as long as you are moving you are burning calories. I'm here most days so hopefully we can support eachother.

I know what you mean, but that's your ego worrying about looking good and comparing you to others. You have no info about where they were a year ago, so who knows? Tell your ego to relax. Decide that your health is more important than other people's opinions. Shame on anyone who judges. Go for your health, ignore other people and tell your ego to focus on the future you who is going to look good too!

Just get out there and forget about them. That was the hardest thing for me but once I was able to get over the other people, I was able to focus harder on myself and my goals.

Yep, you are correct! You are being judged. If you saw someone your size weighing 150pounds more than you now. You would judge. They would not look good in any of their clothes. But go to the gym head held high you are on a mission! If someone shoots you dirty looks walk over & say “I need to lose weight & get fit any support or pointers you can offer me? You look great, can you help me on your equipment or show me what I can do on it? Remember that weight loss is 80% food calories!!! Swimming is excellent exercise but hard on ego!
