I'm sure you already know this, but I try not to think about the total loss and just focus on 5 pounds at a time. 40 sounded like an impossible task, but I knew I could do 5 pounds!! Positive self-talk is very helpful, too, for me at least!! Good luck!!


That does help. I'm focusing on dropping a size at a time, not really the weight.


I find that focusing on the result doesn't get the job done. I need to focus on what goes in my mouth and being consistent with exercise. Turning over a new leaf here...


Good for you JLT! We're all different so different things work for all of us. I didn't gain over the Turkey Day weekend, I actually lost, so I'm feeling great!! I know for me, every pound lost just makes me stay on track!!


Hello everyone. It was a wakeup call to realize which group I belonged in. I've been over 50 for a year and a half and I still can't make it seem real to myself. I've just lost a little over 50 pounds but I have a lot more to lose. So I'll be around for awhile.


I'm new here too, and I also need to lose 70 lbs. I find the older I get the harder it is to come off. But, I really need to get this weight off! I need all the help I can get. I also will be around for awhile.


I'm new, and encouraged by what I see so far. I used to know how to lose weight, and then I reached 50. Now, I seem to need a new plan because the old one doesn't work anymore. Eat less, move more ... just doesn't seem to be enough. Anyone got any tips?
