New Year has arrived so I got my plan and motivation but how do you tell your belly/mind your are not starving at 8:00 or 9:00 in evening? So hard trying to work on it and keep telling myself at this age I'm not ready for a killer heath problem to take me. We all want to live and walk on a beach someday or even a beautiful country farm road so hope all are keeping their mind in gear for a healthy body...have a good evening everyone!

Into my healthy life about 2 week now. Sometimes I feel I walk, sleep and live the word diet. You think about what you are gone to have to eat, exercise, and food. It can overwhelm your mind of dieting and it should not. Your mind should be on living life to the fullest and enjoying it. So I got to figure out how to get my mind looking forward to something other eating diet and let eating being on my mind just 3 or 4 times day (breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack). I need to look forward to something maybe get out of my comfort zone join a gym and let my life think about it and what wonders I can do there.

Hard evening and night last night. I was craving sweets, mostly chocolate! I could have ate an entire candy store. I finally gave into a pack of 100 calories graham cookies. Was not happy with myself but I did learn a couple of things. Don't look up low calories sweet food when you are hungry make you want them Second thing is plan plan plan your meals...today I started of to many calories and by dinner time I was getting high with my calorie intake. So with that I went over 27 calories today. And I'm hungry now at 6:30. With all that I still have in my head healthy body and want to lose weight. So tomorrow with be better and I will be better. Got to get to get to the grocery store need grab food I call. Carrots, peppers, fat free dressing. On the positive side can not wait for weight in day..I feel with ridding my exercise bike and watching food I may have lost some weight. Hope all is doing well and plan their calories well to keep their bellies happy and mind...don't like those cravings!

I have been on my weight loss/healthier eating kick for over a year now. When I started, I was at the top of the BMI and weight recommendations for my height and age. I have lost enough weight to be at the lower end of both.
I didn't really give anything up - I have, however, learned better control. I have changed the way I make some foods (ex: hot chocolate - something I have every night- went from skim milk and 2 tbls of ghirradeli chocolate chips to 1 Tbsp cocoa powder (mixed with about ¼ cup cold water to make it smooth) and 1.25 cups of light vanilla Silk almond milk. Lessened calories by about 200 and fat grams by 7, I think - multiply that by 7 days a week and it is 49 grams of fat - that is about 441calories from fat a week) I also did not give up chocolate. I allow myself to have chocolate once a day. I usually have 1-2 dove dark chocolate promises or a Lindt 85% cocoa square. I have found if I give up everything I love, I am not happy. Key to success is learning to set limits.
If you are finding that you are hungry, look at the quality of foods you are eating. Are you getting enough protein? Fiber? Some great snacks that I have discovered are Greek plain yogurt with a Tbsp of cocoa powder and a tsp of honey. A sweet treat and filling. It is about 110-120 calories. Another is Was a multigrain crackers with about ¼ cup mozzarella cheese. Broil it until cheese is melted. Add a little italian seasoning or basil and a tomato. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water - with and in between meals. It not only fills you up but helps with your metabolism.
Remember too, you need healthy fats. Instead of going fat free on the dressing, look for dressings that have an olive oil base and use a small amount. I just use flavor infused vinegar on my salads and find that to be enough. I use olive oil for frying eggs and veggies. Avacoados are also a great way to get some of those healthy fats in.
Good luck to you on your journey. It sounds like you have the right frame of mind. That is the first step. And remember not to beat yourself up when you have a day where you fall back into old habits. Sometimes that is what we need just to get back on track. knowing that it is ok to do that once in awhile is what helps me through some tough spots. I made chocolate chip cookies one day and I think I must have eaten 10 of them. I forgave myself and managed to still keep the weight off.
Take Care!

Inch59, I have been watching my grandsons so have not been able to read any communications. Thank you for all your help on cravings and food intake. I have put cinnamon in my yogurt but not coco powder...I will try. I'm a hot chocolate drinker also, I drink the almond lite milk I will have to try the coco powder. I just went to the store yesterday. I'm trying new veggie meals. I'm a cook cabbage eater I browned lb of ground chicken, add head chopped cabbage, onion, 1 T cajun powder and kind of simmer and stir fry than 1/2 cup cauliflower alfredo sauce and simmer little longer. Tasted like beef stroganoff. Also got snap pea and asparagus and red rice vinegar for another recipe. Got some spiral zucchini to try something with. But one thing I did learn don't get those bag salad already made up...I could eat the whole bag...600 calories in one bag. I started to get and saw that no way! Hope you are having a good healthy weekend...thank you again!

Joycetime, I rarely get on the computer to read the posts so I just read your post. You have great motivators in those grand babies. I hope to have some someday. Keep up the good work. Weight loss is a mindset. We really have to want it and focus on being kind to ourselves.
Cauliflower alfredo sauce sounds wonderful. I will have to give it a try. I have made an alfredo sauce with cashews before and that is delicious but the cauliflower would have even less calories; not as much protein but it is all in what you need for nutrients.
Hope you are staying healthy in this time of worldly crisis.

I have never heard of cashews unless like cashew milk and I love that. I have been eating a lot of what I call skinny soup (cabbage, peppers, celery, carrot). I also been snacking on chicken breast from the deli and apples. I weighted in today almost 2 pounds off. As long I keep losing even alittle I will be happy. I know I'm feeling so much better. I have been doing chair zumba...love it! Today I ordered my groceries on line...I hated doing that but safety needs to be placed....I always felt like walking in the store was exercise for me...lol I would walk a circle of the store before I started. Have a good safe weekend and remember healthy foods!
