Hey Everyone! How are all of you guys doing? I promise to start posting in here frequently, because I am finally on a damn diet! LOL! Tomorrow starts my day #7, the crazy thing is, I am eating very healthy stuff, and I dont' even feel the need to document my calorie intake, because I already know it's around 1200 or lower calories a day. I am just getting used to eating a full chicken breast, vegetables, cottage cheese, yogurt, protein shake, jello etc. I am very happy that I have actually found a way to stay full most of the day....Anyways, I also made a decision to only weigh myself once a week, instead of getting psycho about it, lol I am taking this day by day, and the other thing I am doing is exercising on my treadmill very day, doing brisk walks. So far so good, I am very proud of what I am becoming....

Hi Shiznik,
I would also suggest that you do measurements around your waist and neck as well. Sometimes with exercise you may not lose weight, but you will lose inches and that is more important.

Hello I am 36 f new to the site I had a partial hysterectomy 2 years ago & since then I have been gaining massive amounts of weight. I am currently weighing in at 299# and would love to get back down to at least 170#. I am under a mountain of stress (husband is dying of heart failure, father has lung cancer, & took on 5 extra kids due to another family member having a total knee replacement). My blood work looks great & I eat pretty healthy (lowest amounts of sodium, whole foods, everything home made) but for some reason I still keep gaining. Not to mention when a family member is put in the hospital I have a bad habit of either not eating or being unable to control what is put into my food. My dr has told me to go on a 1400 calorie a day diet to lose the weight. I am going to try my very best!!!!! Wish me luck!!

Crymsontear, I would also try to limit your carbohydrates. My dietician limits me to 100 grams of digestible carbohydrates a day. This is excluding fiber and sugar alcohols (which I try to limit). As we start to get older, even at only 36, our bodies start to put away carbohydrates as fat much easier than when we where younger. This has been a key to my overall success. I would also caution to not go to low on your calorie intake. My 1800 was based on my physician's recommendation. Going to low may mess with your metabolism rate. Although, I think that 1400 may be in the ballpark for you. Hope that this helps.

Hi. I'm Chrysie. I'm new to the community groups even though I've been using MyNetDiary for awhile now. I'm looking for a group with sensible ideas about weight loss, nutrition, and exercise to help keep me motivated (and motivate others). I like the focus of your group of "Losing Weight Slow and Consistently". I have a tendency to yo-yo. I get motivated and do the things to lose weight, the weight comes off. Then I lose motivation and regain the weight. I want to try doing it slowly and sensibly this time, stay motivated, and make a change in lifestyle, not do a "weight loss diet". Crymsontear, I too have been told by doctors that I need to eat between 1300 & 1500 calories per day. Without tracking my food, I can easily go below 1000 calories because "I'm trying to lose weight". The docs said the exact same thing Spower stated, going too low would slow down my metabolism causing me to keep the weight on. Hope to stay motivated with this group.

I do Supreme 90Day when i'm not doing P90X. It's a great workout and has about the same intensity level. You can get it from Wal-mart or online.

Chrysie, I would also suggest that you keep your carbohydrates down as well. I do only 100 grams a day of digestible carbs. That means that I subtract out the fiber and sugar alcohols. I do try to limit the sugar alcohols though.

Thanks for the suggestion about carbs Spower. Do you use MyNetDiary to track digestible carbs verses the overall carbs in the % breakdown for each day?

I track "Net Carbs". It already subtracts the fiber and sugar alcohol. However, you have to add it under the tracking feature of what to monitor.
