I have had this app on my phone and not really used it for over a year. My weight keeps climbing and I'm ready to make a change. I am re committing and hoping for success this time!

I am not sure if what I am experiencing will help you but here is what I am up to. I just got the app today and just joined this team. My goal is to lose 45 lbs. (as my weight keeps climbing with my age) before my birthday in January (then I will have to say goodbye to this group). New habits are tough to form but something happened today which made me feel like I can do this (I just started my diet and exercise program this past Monday and I have been to the gym four times and have kept to my calory intake goal every day, and have not eaten after 7pm which for me is pretty amazing-I hope I can keep this up!)
I switched over from another app to this one and have been good at tracking what I eat while at each meal or snack time. This afternoon I purchased a lemon bar. I found out just how many calories were in it and realized I could only eat less than half if I wanted to save some calorie room for going out to dinner with friends and our kids. Anyway, normally I would drool over a couple ounces of lemon bar sitting on a plate-I would never just let it sit there and not eat it. But today I did, in fact I threw it away which made me feel bad (as I hate wasting food).
What I have found is that if I really commit to the habit of tracking what I eat which is kind of fun it becomes a bit of a game to try to "budget" the remaining calories for the day. This is the first time in my life I resisted eating food or even really knew what calories are and how much I was eating.
In other parts of my life I have found that sometimes just focusing on the goal is not so workable. After the initial commitment I would lose interest as the satisfaction of reaching the goal is so far away often. I have learned to focus on the small things, the little joys of the process of the journey (like learning about what I am putting into my body everyday or relearning what it feels like to exercise). So commit to the little things that get you to your goal, and good luck.
