Only a stone to loose but really struggling !! :( Topic


Hi all, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice please !! I've been trying to loose a few pounds now for a few months but I've only lost 3 and been swaying between 1 or 2 pounds up and down for the past month !
I do regulary exercise every week : Zumba x 1 hour, Pilates x 1 hour, Power walking x 2 hours or more a walk plus other bits in between.
I've stuck to 1350 cals a day and have really cut down biscuits and sweets (Chocolate is my downfall ! ), but haven't lost any more so far ! I'm stuck at 10 stone 1 pound. I'm 5'3" and medium build but I know it's too heavy for me ! I would like to get down to 9 stone 6 for a start and see how I look and feel then. I was arounf that weight for years but the last 6 months I seem to have put on half a stone and not really realized ! :(

My typical day goes like this :
Breakfast - Porridge with Semi Skimmed milk, Blueberries and maybe Fresh orange to drink
Lunch - Chicken or ham Salad, with 2 small boiled new potatoes

Afternoon Snack - Melon or Strawberries

Dinner - Chicken Casserole, Chilli (made with 5% lean mince beef), or Chicken and Veg
Snack - Naked bar, or Rice cake. (sometimes a bit of chocolate if I'm feeling that way out !

I do have the occasional jacket potato for lunch or soup but I'm not overeating really and always stick to my cals, but yet I'm not loosing !

I do have a desk job, but try and move around as much as possible. I have a power walking buddy at work and we get out 2 couple times a week for half an hour.

Oh BTW I'm wheat / Gluten free so I can't eat any normal bread or biscuits etc.
This week I thought I'd try and cut out potatoes as I have been substituting them for Bread.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Anyone else having this problem ?

hi, ive come back to this after about 9 years. i lost 3.5 stone then and managed to keep it off mostly until i got into a relationship and slowly put some back on. i restarted about 4 weeks ago and have lost about 7lbs. i have 1050 cals per day but also stick to 11g of fat per meal. my friend showed me a chart all those years back which ive referred back to. using the details you provide above i would go for 1500 cals and 16g of fat per meal, if you are ok on 1350cals carry on with that.
measure everything! Don't guess. limiting your fat i find helps to keep calorie intake down, but also makes me make better food choices so i can eat more at each meal and feel fuller.
im planning to do this through to august at least, when i should hopefully reach my goal weight.

Thanks so much for replying ! I'm back on here again and after a holiday didn't put any weight on which was a bonus !
I seem to yoyo between a couple of pounds so I'll try out the 16g of fat and keep within the 1350 cals.
I'm doing more biking too and have recently started RPM indoor cycling so hopefully that will help me along the way.
How are you doing with your goals so far ?!
