I have spent this year listening to weight management people. I did it when I was in active weight loss phase and now in Masters(hope I have or will Master this) Thought I wuld share some tidbits- Today I thought about 100 cals. We all know now what that amount it. Not enough sometimes but if you think about not using a food diary forever that 100 calories over you daily requirement will translate to 100X365 days per year will equal a 10 pound weight gain. For us old one x 5 years=50 pounds. We need to be vigilant even with a few over and get right back on the wagon or pastry cart when we fall off. I have gather some of these not so encouraging points but unfortunately true points. If you want I will try to share them but don't want to be a true downer. Have a great day(after this post)-Fran

Or we need to make sure to get OFF the pastry cart if we fall ON it. Hee hee! :)
Nice points, Fran. Definitely a good thing to keep in mind!

That's for sure especially if you are like me who never met a carb she didn't love.

Continue to post Fran. I think the little tidbits will help keep us focused. After all it was the tidbits that brought us to a point we needed to lose weight and then maintain it.

I think it's all about balance and self control.
I've loved losing the weight as it's shown me again that i have very good self control.
If you go over one day, or have a bad week, you just have to accept that the next week you need to be a bit under on your cals and do some extra exercise.

Another pearle- This was controversal in weight management . It works but you have to keep in mind it is a not to be used if you feel it will set off a trigger. It is how I plan to get through the holidays. Calorie Banking. It can be done in 2 ways as a preplan where you have a general idea how far over you will be for a specific day and the week prior you save the amount of calories you will need extra for that occassion . Like saving to spurge on something. Second why is you have the day then pay for it each day of the following week so your totals for the week are even Like charging the calories and paying back.. I will probably try both ways through the holidays. The success is in the plan and the payment.

I have been trying to look more at my weekly totals in general, now that I've been maintaining for a while. That gives me leeway to have a treat one day and not worry too much about it. this has also worked for me because I don't have time to exercise every day, so I can still build up some "surplus" calories for days I don't work out.

Kamdis have you been using the reports function at all for your weekly totals?

Being a total nerd, I actually keep my own "running total" spreadsheet of my Day Bottom Line (over/under planned calories including exercise). :D But the Charts work okay for it too, if you don't want one more place to enter things. Viewing your 30 days weight chart along with food calories and activities gives a pretty clear picture.
