OK so I am below the MND# always have been and don't count any exercise calories(there are some, not that I really want to, but why have I not loss anything? My detail says I should . Does that really mean anything (the prediction)? Is it just when you are a much higher deficit? Just curious. I've read your post about 5 times, and I am honestly not completely sure what you are asking?

You are eating a certain amount of calories plus exercise (that you are not eating), and the prediction says you are going to lose weight but you don't?


Mostly curiousity . How close are their prodictions on loss? For me not so much of an issue but for people who are taking it as absolute truth and it is not working that might contribute to people giving up if using those #.Just wanted to know if this was unique to me or standard. Thought if someone else was below MND calories in maintainence and remaining stable,the goal) and see projected weight loss that don't occur.


I know exactly what you are asking! And I can't give you a good answer. You might be one of those folks on the far left side of the bell curve when it comes to total energy expenditure. Not fair at all. By the books, you should be losing weight on your intake, estimated maintenance calories, and exercise calories that are not even accounted for!
Sorry, I wish I had a more scientific answer for you. But those prediction equations are just that - estimations of total energy expenditure based upon population data. Some folks need more calories, whereas other folks need less.
Some meds can decrease TEE but since you are a pharmacist, I'm guessing you have already considered that.

Good answer. As I said just cusosity thought it migh account for the plateaus people are experiencing if they see a projectio n that is not happening it would be easy to through up ones hands and eat a Big Mac. Do you think this is a unique occurance or is there more like me?


Maybe the projection shouldn't be based on a days worth of data, but rather your previous seven (or however many) days of logging. It would give a better picture, but how long does it take from you create a deficit until you lose the weight?


I am always under the project , always have been my weekly reports are below because my calorie maintenence is lower at 1510 as opposed to 1700+ so is is on more than a day it is since maintainence for me. Afraid that is not the answer.- Thank you though for the thought.


When I look at data, I tend to look at caloric intake averages over 3-months or more (after deleting days that are missing meals). That gives me a better picture of what someone's true maintenance calories are likely to be. This is in the case of accurate and consistent logging.
