Reached my Goal Topic

The last week of March I weighed 261.8 #. I am 73 years old, 5’11”, and lead a sedentary life stile. I started portion control and eating better food. I really hadn’t set a goal but knew I needed to lose a lot of weight. In August I met with my Dr and he recommended MyNetDiary as a better way to track what I was doing. He also suggested a goal of 200 to 205# for my age and body build.

This morning I hit 200.4 on our scale. My cholesterol has dropped from 210 to 154. I feel much better and have started to manage my exercise and activity levels. My average weight loss was a little over 2 pounds / week but it certainly was not in a straight line. My chart looks like a yo-yo! My key was to just never stop. When I went up I just started following the plan again and would soon I would be back on track. I hope your plan works for you.

Congrats, that is quite an accomplishment

Hi Darylm44-Thanks for sharing your success. Nice job on your weight loss! Thank you for sharing that the weight loss doesn't always happen in a nice straight downward line. That is the reality. Keep up your healthy lifestyle! Best, Joanna (Dietician)

Hi Five to Darylm44....Awesome!!

Way to go!! Congratulations!

Darylm44, congratulations - what a significant accomplishment! What are your plans for maintenance? I have used MyNetDiary for maintenance for many years and I highly recommend continued tracking for that purpose. Let me know if you have questions. Joanna & I would be happy to keep supporting you with permanent weight maintenance.

Best, Kathy

I am using MND for maintenance but have added some exercises and walking. With out the exercise my weight shoots up if I eat the recommended maintenance calories. Now that the Holidays are over maybe I can figure it out.

Wow! Great job!

Hi Darylm44- Nice job on continuing to use MND for weight maintenance. You have had some awesome success with weight loss- now for the next phase of keeping it off. Let me make sure I understand your question: you are saying that if you follow the MND suggested daily calorie budget for weight maintenance, you find that you in fact gain weight? How many hours a week are you exercising? Are you doing cardio and strength training? Even though you are now engaging in regular exercise did you still keep your exercise level (under the Plan tab) set to sedentary? This will make sure and not over-estimate your calories. I have included 2 articles that I think may be of interest to you, the second one talks more about setting your exercise goal to sedentary. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question! Totally agree with you. Keeping the food diary is a good way to maintain your weight. Last summer I lost 2 stones ( achieved my goal). In November, being cold & windy, I stopped the diary and walk( used to walk 3-5 miles daily). Over the holiday period I put on nearly 3 kg, this week i started my Net diary again and i have already lost 2 lbs. unfortunately i could only walk twice so far. It is not walking weather yet. I should keep it up.
Good luck to you all.
