Hi I'm new and I would like to know what am I supposed to put in the consumed amount section?

Thank you very much! I was able to join and posted a message! I'm excited! Thanks again!

Hi Ppj1991 - you enter the amount of the food or drink you actually consumed. Be sure to pick the food item that best matches how you eat your food - e.g. cooked vs. raw, fried vs. baked, etc. You might want to read my next post for newbies for more basic info and resources.

Welcome all of you who are new to MyNetDiary! Please be sure to read my articles on meal planning, nutrition, and exercise. They are found on the main website: http://www.mynetdiary.com/diet-and-weight-loss-resources.html

It is especially important that you understand how to personalize your weight loss goals as well as nutrient goals. At the very least, read my article on calories http://www.mynetdiary.com/customizing-calorie-goals.html and my blog post on setting a healthy weight goal http://blog.mynetdiary.com/post/2313337506/setting-a-healthy-target-weight-how-do-you

Ultimately, you have to find out what works best for you by recording your food intake and physical activity on a regular basis and tweaking your goals as you go.

We all need inspiration, feedback, and sometimes, just a good listener! Take advantage of our Community Forum. When you want a focused support group or team, please consider looking through the existing groups and teams first and see if you want to join. Most groups are open but some are closed. If you want to create your own group, you can do that too and invite others to join you. PLEASE READ THE FAQS PAGE ON TEAMS AND GROUPS SO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW TO ADVERTISE OR HIDE YOUR GROUP! If you have questions for me, then please feel free to post me a question on "Ask a Dietitian." I also review the other public forum topics and post there too.

Sharing data with other MND members: login to web program. Go to the forum post of the person you would like to friend. Click on their nickname on the upper left hand corner of the text box. You will land on their page. Scroll down and then change the attitude toward this person from "neutral" to "friendly." Once you do this, you can set your Information Sharing options for them in your Community Profile. The default is not to share data. You can change that option so that you share your data with all members, or only share with members who you are friendly with. If you want to share info with me, then my nickname is "Dietitian." I think we all benefit from sharing info with each other so we can learn from each other.

Hi All, I'm a newbie, 3 days into trying calorie counting and am feeling a bit hungry if honest!, however I am beginning to realise that my portions were way too much before. Tonight I couldn't believe how many calories are in pasta and how small a 100g portion is......oh well onwards, good luck all!!

Hungry - if you feel super hungry all of the time, you might simply be going too low in calories. You could ease up on your target date so that you don't have to create as large of a calories deficit. Be sure to read my article for help on calories: http://www.mynetdiary.com/customizing-calorie-goals.html and how to set a healthy target weight: http://blog.mynetdiary.com/post/2313337506/setting-a-healthy-target-weight-how-do-you

Also, planning for snacks during your hungriest time periods will help you stay on track. There is a thread going that has lots of great ideas - "Low Calorie Snack Ideas." You can see the whole history of this thread if you use the web for forum.

And great that you have been tracking for 3 days now!

Know just how you feel, not long retired from Army, used to 8500 calories minimum a day, more in theatre. Always hungry.

Hang in there Hammerhead - the transition from high energy demands to lower energy demands is tough. Athletes often find themselves overeating during their down time since they are used to eating for competition/training.

Experiment with eating more slowly - take at least 15-20 minutes to eat your meal. Consider spreading out to 4-6 smaller meals so you don't have a big time gap between meals. And be sure to include a good protein source at meals to help with satiety.

Hello, one and all! I'm new to this, and not really sure what to expect, but I'm hoping this works. I'm positively appalled at how much I weigh--this is my highest weight ever. I've tried Atkins, which is very hard for me to stick with, and Weight Watchers, which started off well for me, but I just kind of gave up after a while. I have to admit, I'm scared that if I don't do something and soon, I'm not going to be around to enjoy the rest of my life. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way? I'm fat, tired, and frustrated, and sick of feeling all three.

Two weeks using this app and a 1500 lo-carb diet and I've lost 4 lbs and my sugars are under control! Slow but steady wins the race, I guess. I don't set unrealistic goals for myself: hoping to lose 50 lbs by August. I can do it one day at a time. I can't say enough about this app, except its only as good as the info you put into it!
