Running Faster Topic

Now that I am thin enough to run, my goal is to get my body fat down so that I can run faster. I am thinking %25

Hi, just a quick question. How can I lose weight through running when my appetite has sky rocketed because of the running?!

A lot of runners have the same problem - running makes them feel like eating more and can sometimes end up overeating (I'm a runner so I've earned an extra portion).

My top tips:
1. Drink before/during/after runs - don't confuse thirst and hunger. 2. Do the maths - running burns 8-10 Cals a minute. 1hr = 480 cals = not very many French fries.

Oddly, I feel less hungry on days I run.

For me, running burns about 100 calories per mile, which is (at my speed, 9 min miles) about 667 calories per hour. But that's still not a lot of french fries! ;)

I've found that nuts etc fill me up nicely, so I keep a box ready for when I walk through the door so I'm not tempted by the biscuits! X

I am just getting started dieting and running after a too long hiatus of stress and eatting and being lazy. It is hard going out on the road because running now makes me feel slow and heavy instead of light and free (like it used to).
The upside is that any run these days totally kills my appetite- I can't help thinking "Man! How did I not notice all of these pounds piling on, this feels awful"

I really don't feel like going though tonight- it is raining and wet outside

I can totally relate to the last post. I have been running for the past couple of years but the extra 20+pounds makes it harder than it needs to be. I really want to lose this weight so my 'layering' will be for the weather, not to cover things up!

Working on getting back into running after a though year. The extra 10 to 15 pounds make it difficult.

Last year I was training for a half marathon with a friend. Some weeks I was running a total of 50 km. I was 10 kg heavier than I now am even though I am now only running 15 km every week. I think when you run you give yourself permission to eat more. I often eat a treat after I run like it is a reward for exercising. I do like the idea of being able to run so I can have my cake and eat it too but my perception of what that looks like needs to change. I am trying to remind myself that running should allow me to have a treat when that treat moment arrives without guilt. Not treats every time I run but when a normal occasion arrives eg birthday or dinner out. Big long ramble sorry but I basically meant sometimes a lot of exercise makes you think you can indulge more than you should.
