Scared I won’t lose Topic

Hi, guys. I’m about 3 weeks into my weight loss journey and I’m pretty sure I’ve stayed below my caloric limit every day, and I’ve completely removed sweet drinks from my diet, but I’m scared that I’m not gonna lose weight. I’m also having trouble finding motivation for exercise! Anyone else? Tips?

i would say find an exercise online that fits you. don’t be too harsh on yourself. by choosing too intense of a workout, you lose motivation to do it since it’s less fun. try 30 minute beginner workouts on youtube and play music! think of it as a fun activity instead of a burden! and if you are trying to stay off sweets but still want a treat now and then, i recommend buying sugar free candy in order to help your craving.

I agree with U11 it also help with a friend and/or weighing yourself ever so often when you see progress no matter how small it motivates you to keep on keeping on

Hi Nicholas- Welcome to MyNetDiary!
It sounds like you are getting some momentum with tracking. It certainly is a powerful tool.
Strong work on removing soda and other sweet drinks from your diet!
I completely agree with the suggestions already provided. Start slow with the activity and make sure to check your progress throughout the week.

Here are some tips for motivation and for getting the scale moving downward. You've got this! Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

I read somewhere that when you’re struggling to do something it’s helpful to calculate a range to start ie Ill definitely exercise for ...(how ever minutes you think you can manage) even if it’s only 5 minutes and my upper limit for example will be 8 minutes. Then once I’m happy with that I’ll increase the range gradually, say an extra minute a week or whatever. So it’s all under your control

Exercise can be helpful for weight loss but it’s more an overall health thing than a necessity. Unfortunately I’ve lost a lot of weight and gained it back repeatedly over the years so I’m good at both. I tend to put off any strenuous exercise until I’ve lost a significant amount of weight. It’s easier on the body and mind. Particularly if you are putting on muscle it can get confusing to figure out how much fat weight you’re losing versus muscle weight you’re gaining. Body measurements become more important at that point because you have to think more in terms of BMI than pounds. I would take one step at a time. Keep it simple for a while. Focus on finding foods you can live with long term, that don’t leave you hungry and work for you. Once you’ve established a working diet then expand the exercise.

One of my best motivators to get moving is getting hooked on a good audio book and going for a walk! Sometimes I’ll say I’m just going to walk and listen for 10 minutes and get so into the story I’ll go for much longer just walking while I listen. It’s a big motivator for me on my less energetic days 🤪

Love the audiobook idea to look forward to during walk! Brenda
