Tips/Advice to Avoid Binge Eating Due to Anxiety? Topic

Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone had any advice to avoid binge eating, which usually occurs for me around night time. I have been a binge eater for the last five years after losing my brother...When I binge I usually have bad anxiety, I have tried so many things and nothing seems to work. Please let me know if you struggle with this and or if you have any tips!
Thanks for your help!

Hi, I'm new to this. I was wondering the same thing. Did you find anything new to cope?

Hi! I just joined and saw your posts. I too am a binge eater and have found a few things that help. There is no magic here but a few 'distractions' have helped to reduce my binging. 1) get a journal and write down everything you are feeling and the thoughts in your head BEFORE you put anything in your mouth. A post it on the fridge or pantry will help remind you. 2) Do something else - walk, phone a friend, clean, anything to distract yourself from food. 3) Drink a huge glass of water. This helped reduce the amount that I ended up eating

Hope this helps!!

Distraction Helps, being depressed and just sitting in front of the TV or computer isn't helpful for me. I try and get myself to clean or get some fresh air, anything that I know will boost my mood. I also try to make it difficult, I don't keep foods I binge on in the house.
When I'm at the grocery store, walking down the isles I look at unhealthy food as I walk by and call it poison. I do this weather I feel like binging or not.
If I feel like binging I also try to think about how bad it makes my body feel. How it makes me sick and irritable. Basically, that it isn't going to make me feel better.
I drink water, green high nutrient vegetable juice or kombucha (things that nurture my body). But doing something that boosts self worth is important, even if it's washing the dishes and taking out the trash.
