Tired Eating... Any suggestions? Topic

I got home late on Sunday because of a flight delay. I was exhausted on Monday and felt really hungry all day long. I managed to stay in my calorie limits but I think that my body was trying to make up for the lack of energy by telling me it needed more food. Anyone have thoughts on how to combat that? Any ideas of the best thing to eat to conquer that exhaustion hunger. Perhaps just a good nap is what was really needed, but I wasn't able to do that.

I will say that actually recognizing that the hunger was coming from being tired was a first for me and I do consider that a big victory.

I track sleep for that very reason. I ALWAYS risk overeating my calories when I get less than about 8 hours of sleep. Almost guaranteed with 6 hours or less. I'm very predictable that way.
I am pretty sure inadequate sleep is a predictor for excessive caloric intake.
Sometimes, a quick walk will help wake us up without the extra calories. But I also plan to have extra fresh fruit to give me carbs without a lot of calories - works well for me.

I agree on fruit -- I particularly find melon satisfying when I'm tired. I can eat lots of it for practically no calories and it's almost like candy when it's ripe. :)
Also, I try to drink extra water on tired days too.

I find i want sugar when I'm tired, only time i ever eat chocolate!
Good on you for seeing it for what it is, your body fooling you! Suprising how often it tries to do that.
Go for healthy sweet foods or maybe some diet soda? Liquid fills you up too.
