Total carbs vs net carbs Topic

The first time I did Keto I kept to 20 net carbs or less. (2017). It worked, I lost a ton, then I decided I didn’t want to do it anymore and gained most of it back. I’m back now but currently doing 30 net carbs or less. It’s working and my body is responding just as it did before. All of this to say use your body as a cue. If you are losing using net, then go for it, if not track total.

I totally agree with the Health Coach!!!
Also, restaurant food is the same, full of preservatives and chemicals that body doesn’t know what to do with.

So I’ve been on the low-carb diet for a month now I started January 3 I’m down 6 pounds but I’ve been on a plateau now for five days. I’ve been sticking to under 30 net carbs the whole time and for the most part under 900 calories. I’m not sure what to do to get out of this plateau. I’m also not drinking alcohol for the entire month a.k.a. dry January. I could use all the help I could get right now before I get too discouraged.

In 10 months I have lost 3 stone 5lb. I have actually had more carbs than protein. I went 200 kcal below what I was given. I can’t exercise at a gym due to arthritis, so I upped my steps to 14000 a day. Once I had done 3 months I then also fasted every day from 6pm until 12:30 -1pm a day. It made a huge impact to my weight loss. I’m now maintaining my weight. I use this app everyday to log my food and water intake. It’s the easiest diet I’ve ever done. I do eat healthy but I also like my chocolate 😂 so if I fancy some I have it but I have to eat fewer calories for my main meal. I’ve tried every diet going and none worked. This app is brilliant 🤩 so glad I chose this over others.

I notice many members choose a title for the profile name vs their name. Such as "CertifiedHealthCoach"

Has any vetting gone into whether this member is actually a "certified health coach"? Also, what IS a "certified health coach"? What is the certification?

There are many others here with similar profile names. They appear to possess some level of authority due to their title, but call me skeptical.

Hello JDM,

Thanks for your question. MyNetDiary does not vet posting by certified health coaches in the forum. There is a certification a person can get that shows they have had training to guide and coach people on meeting their health goals.

MyNetDiary does have a team of registered dietitians who post regularly on the forum. We are all experienced professionals who work with people in many areas of health such as weight management, diabetes, heart health, etc. The dietitians do monitor the forum to make sure there are no harmful or inappropriate comments posted. Here is our team.
