Dear Members, I have set all my contacts back to "Neutral" - please do not be offended! I have done this so that I can more quickly navigate the forum.

Please continue to define me as "Friendly" in your Community Profile area (and click on data boxes that you would like me to see) if you do not make all your data public. I make my data public for everyone to see so that you can see how I set my own goals and how I eat and exercise (I am an open book).

Please let me know if you have questions about this change.

Thanks so much for the article on women with babies and mates and weight gain. It describes exactly what happened to me over the 12 years of being married and having a child-- about 20 pounds that crept up during that time. It feels better to know that it's a not uncommon occurence. I attribute it to eating with a mate who can eat bigger portions and drink more wine without having it show up on his hips. I normalized my intake to his and gained weight. Also, there is definitely more socializing and entertaining that revolves around food with other couples and families. I was beginning to think that that weight would never come off. Thanks to My Net Diary, I have lost just under 20 lbs since July with about 10 more to go to my goal. I have a better sense of proper portions and feel I can still socialize and eat what I want without getting off track as long as I stay consious about what and how much I am eating. Thanks Katherine for collecting these articles for the community. I find a lot of motivation and insight in them.

Excellent, so happy you find the articles helpful, Clochette2! I also gained weight years ago during the first couple of years that I lived with my husband. I had to do the same - relearn appropriate portion sizes and not match my husband in quantity of food eaten. Glad to hear that you are meeting your goals and continue to do so!
