I have been overweight all my life. I never believed I would ever weigh this much. I find MyNetDiary very helpful. For one reason or another it has just "clicked". I have tried many times, unsuccessfully, to lose weight. Put on more each time I quit trying. NEVER STOP TRYING! Some day, some thing, will work.

Being over 50 is a gut check. You know it when the doc says both your knees are shot but he don't want to do surgery until you lose 20 pds. Hello. Over 50 and losing weight with knees that barely let you walk. Weight loss is tough enough when you exercise. Try without. I have learned to bare pain and bought elliptical. I am a strong woman.

Day 10 of my new eating plan. Trying just to be healthy and reasonable. My real problem is that I am addicted to sugar. I have stopped all sugar (only exception is morning coffee) and plan NOT to return to it. Every time I do, it leads me UP the weight path. Am I the only one who feels this way? Can one reasonably live without sugar long term? I hope so!

I think most of us would have taken better care of our bodies if we knew that we would live this long! :-)

Hi, I'm new to this, 52, and my body just won't cooperate with the level of activity that I think I should be able to do! Trying elliptical and swimming but I miss jogging outdoors. And I've put on a good 10plus lbs!

Hi Fellow fifties. I am new to this - started 3 days ago. So far so cool but the food choice drop down menu is driving me mad. I must eat weird foods because I can't find what I need. What does (contributed) mean? Any helpful answers gratefully appreciated. I am very determined to lose 50 lbs within a year. I am exercising hard so hope I can keep it up. I am keen to cyber-meet some others fighting the same battle. good luck all....

Hi... it frustrated me for a long time too until I realized that I can add my own food that I cannot find in the data base. I can even put together items and make a recipe for it so I don't have to key in every item each time. Which I still manage doing anyway! Good luck to you!

I am new too. Been using iphone app for awhile. Most frustrating is making a recipie, and the food score confuses me. I have found very few foods that have decent food scores.

Contributed food is food that someone added to the database - it wasn't provided directly by MND. Good luck to you on your efforts! I'm going to try and get serious about this again.

The biggest challenge for me is the energy factor. I was not overweight when I was young, I have a large frame and was very active. I would be out running around to different events, something going on every night. Always worked in restaurants, ate as much as I wanted, always non healthy restaurant food. At mid 30's life seemed to slow a bit and began putting on weight. My energy levels are low. About 2 years ago quit all soft drinks, almost curtailed the fast food and watch sugar, lost about 20 pounds . Now beginning prepare healthy food and to exercise again, can see progress. I want to hit 195, that would be a good weight for me, today weighed in at 225. Thanks to all.
