Energy is definitely a factor in these somewhat older years at least for me. I'm the opposite of you, I have been overweight my whole life. At 50, I knew I needed to do something to change. It sounds like you are definitely moving in the right direction. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Good luck on your fitness goals!

Well, it definitely is harder to stay in shape in my 50s compared to my younger years! In fact, it was VERY difficult for me to gain weight when I was younger - I looked like a scare crow. In my 30s I finally put on about the right amount of weight and was in decent shape. Then as I got into my 50s my weight became higher than it should be. I'm at 202 right now but need to be around 180. I'm still playing hockey and getting to the gym some, but it's still a battle. Hang in there everyone! It doesn't happen overnight. :-)

Turning 52 I am having a hard time keeping weight off my belly area. Eating very health most of the time but when I indulge I bulge!! My goal is to stay trim and avoid cancer and heart disease that runs in my family

I have that same problem. It doesn't matter how low the scale says, I always appear heavier because of my tummy area. I wonder if there are any specific exercises to target that area and get away from the "middle-aged spread" as my mom used to call it?

My biggest challenge is staying on track. Life has been so hectic since May. Its ended with a brand new grandson. Trying to start over.I have made better food choices, but getting out to excercise is difficult. Our rainy season has curtailed that for awhile. I have great tools available just haven't got make in the swing of things.

Congrats on the new grandson! Staying on track is a challenge for me as well. It's so easy to get sidetracked. I have had many do-overs in my life, so you go for it! Have an AWESOME day!

Hey guys. Hi Buterflywatcher. I have plataeu'd at 225... argh. it's pissing me off. I have taken off only 5 lbs...
On the positive... man... I am walking... and even started jogging again. first time in 20 years. I never thought I could. I spent the first month getting my legs strong enough to run just 100 yards even. you know? Tonight on my second walk, I jogged at a brink pace 3/10 of a mile. I know, no big deal... but I was ASTOUNDED. I never thought I would again. I smoked for 12 years.
I am sooooooo excited overall. Damn the weight. I will run it off if I have to! Good luck all.
Keep the faith.

This may sound like heresy, but when I am too tired to workout, I have a black coffee or expresso right before I my gym session, and it seems to give me enough of an energy boost to start the session.

Hey everyone. I am so new to this game. I'm retired military and have been out for the last 12 years. I don't know where my discipline has gone!! I need support and encouragement. A few friends along the way won't hurt.LoL. Looking forward to feedback. Anyone in the Newport News, VA area. Hit me up for a walking partner.

I have a hard time exercising and now it is the rainy season so I need to get back to the gym. Been doing some decent 2 mile walks a few days of the week. Maybe I need a complete rain outfit and just walk in the rain.
