What types of exercise are you doing? Topic


I am finding that I am so out of shape that exercise is very difficult. Even walking is hard after a day of work. I am starting out with chair exercises and very short walks when the pain is less. What are others doing?


I find walking much more difficult now - I used to walk for hours! It's simple a pain in the feet now...


I bought an elliptical machine and really enjoy using it. Very low impact, so it does not hurt my knees. At first I could only use it for 5 minutes, but now I am up to 15 minutes. I also recently started actually walking with my dog, she really enjoys it, and I guess I do too.


I am having the same problem... pain in the feet. Getting really good shoes, helps. I too used to walk for hours. I enjoyed it but then I stopped. My goal is to get back there. Now I have a long way to go to get back there.

This morning I realized that I have been hard on myself for that and for letting my body get so big. I need to stop blaming myself. I need to forgive myself for my weight and my "level of out-of-shapeness" and move forward. I don't know if that thought will help you. It is helping me. I exercised today for the 1st time in weeks.


I joined a walking group and found that after a few weeks I had to walk slower because while my ankles were handling the walking better, my shins started hurting. I made sure that I stretched very well both before and after! It has been awhile now since I have gone walking but since there is snow on the ground, I am thinking that deep-water aquasize will be better for me.

We have to do the best that we can and not get frustrated when we can't do more. For me, it took me awhile to get here and I know it take me awhile to get back to where I want to be.


I have an recumbent bicycle that I used to love to use! Im going to dust it off this afternoon and put it to use again for the first time in over 4 years! SOOO glad I didnt put it in the yardsale this past summer!


Well, I'm working with a personal trainer 1 day a week on Saturday. I also have Precor Upright bike and elliptical at home to do in the mornings. I want to start swimming one day a week.


I just bought a treadmill and will be walking 30 minutes a day


Walking at work and using a pedometer.


I go to Gold's Gym about 4 times a week and have a personal trainer that I see at least twice a week.
