When do you weigh yourself? Topic

I weigh every day. It is a simple disciple that I like while I am dieting. I am around 97kg now and I know that my weight can easily fluctuate by plus or minus 1.5kg on a daily basis so I do not worry too much if it bounces up a little and I do not celebrate too much if it drops quickly.

Once I have hit my target weight I plan to start weighing once a week or so. Probably.

disciple = discipline

I like to weigh in a couple times a week just to keep track of where I am at overall. I know my weight can fluctuate when loosing so I just keep that in mind...as muscle weighs more than fat!

Once a day I look...but once a week I track it.

I live in India and it is winter here. I weigh myself daily first thing in the morning after coming from the washroom with all my clothes off. It is very cold now and not practical to weigh with clothes off. How to find out my actual weight with clothes on.

Hi there Rajesh,
Not sure you saw my response in the "Ask a Dietitian" section, so I thought I would post it here as well-

What about weighing yourself in the same clothes each day? I have some clients who weigh while wearing their pajamas (so they don't catch a cold). Wearing the same clothes reduces the variability that different clothes provide. Though, ultimately, the goal is to look for trends over time. I am guessing your pajamas weigh a few pounds. If you weigh yourself wearing the same pajamas every day, you won't have to subtract the weight of the clothes.

Here is an article with tips on checking your progress on the scale. https://www.mynetdiary.com/how-often-to-weigh-yourself.html

Saw the message just now.
Normally I wear a kurta and pajama and a vest. So I don't need to subtract the weight of the clothes.
But when I want to have body composition parameters periodically then I should take the weight with clothes off.

Hi there Rajesha- Wearing the kurta and pajama and a vest is a great idea for your weight checks. Don't let the number on the scale play tricks with your mind. Weight loss and health improvement also include things like improving health parameters such as blood pressure and blood sugar, having more energy, sleeping better, and feeling stronger. We hope tracking has helped you achieve all of your health goals! Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Thank you.
Will update soon
