Trouble eating enough calories and not overeating protein Topic

I’m a week into Keto. I chose this diet because it’s the closest to the food I would normally eat. I’m super picky. Only like maybe 4 veggies. I used it so IM and still do twice a week. Im one of those people who don’t really get hungry. I get side tracked keeping business and working that I forget a lot. Been that way for many many years. I’m supposed to eat roughly 1200 (it’s on auto so it adjusts) I’m lucky to fit in 700. When I hit that amount I’m usually at my net carbs and a little over protein so now how to get more calories? Also I don’t understand when I go under analysis what the calorie deficit means. I usually have a thumbs up there but then it tells me I need a bit more calories. I usually burn off around 200-300 calories from my active job. Thanks

Hi Julie- Welcome to MyNetDiary!
It can take awhile to adjust to a new diet plan and figure out how your food preferences foods to fit in and how much. Here are some healthy food choices on KETO to help you get to 1,200 calories/day.

-Some people find it helpful to set a reminder on their phone to stop working and eat something about every 3-4 hours. That way they aren't trying to stuff themselves at meals.

Here's some info on how MyNetDiary calculates your calorie budget that I think you will find helpful-

Thank you for your information. The article was helpful and cleared things up.

I have just started Keto and Intermittent fasting since 1 week. I am not able to hit the 1200 calorie mark. I need to up the proteins. Just wondering if overnight oats would be allowed on a keto diet?

Hi there Mfmaval-
Traditionally the Keto diet limits carbohydrates, encouraging the consumption of fat and protein. Since oats are high in carbohydrates they would not fall under a keto plan. A few keto breakfast ideas include eggs, smoked salmon, high-fat smoothies. Here's some additional info about keto: https://www.mynetdiary.com/keto-diet-library.html

Hope this helps, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Carbs are a limit to no go over. (<20-50)
Protein is a target which you should hit but not drastically exceed(.8g per lb of ideal body weight)
Fat is fuel to fill you up and fill the gaps.
For weight loss still make sure to meet your protein target but have a calorie deficit of 30% or less. Still eat a good amount of fat so you arent starving.

Great info...adding a protein shake might help with added calories.

Hi Suzib123- Any favorites that have worked well for you or do you make your own? Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Joanna...I love the Quest shake mix, it's 110 calories, less than 1 sugar and you can add active cottage cheese or fruit to beef it up!

Thanks Suzib123- Quest makes some solid products. Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)
