Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery Topic

Hi Folks, yes, you can use MyNetDiary to track after bariatric surgery but you MUST use your health care team's recommended nutrient intake for goals. Use the Max membership level and completely customize using web program. Thereafter, you can track using your app and see the key nutrients you have chosen to track.

Also, this blog post might be helpful:

But again, do NOT use the preset nutrient goals if you have had bariatric surgery - they are not appropriate.

I had bariatric surgery (gastric sleeve) August 9th and had been using MyNetDiary since before my surgery. My surgeon helped me "tweek" the nutrient levels and he and his staff were pleased that I knew and could track exactly how much protein, fluids, Vit D, Vit B12, calcium, iron, etc. that I was getting. Having my vitamins and supplements included in the foods analysis has been instrumental. The ability to personalize the tracking and goals has been great! I print out my reports when I have my checkups with the surgeon. The level of detail together with the daily notes has helped me understand how various foods effect my body. Which is quite a concern when your eating is dramatically changed through bariatric surgery. My surgeon has been very pleased with my progress and I do attribute part of my success to the ability to track in detail on MyNetDiary.

Excellent - thanks so much for sharing that, U4925356! Glad MyNetDiary is helping you meet your bariatric nutrient goals (with the gastric sleeve).

I have used MND previously for Diabetic food journaling. Recently my Endocrinologist has recommended Bariatric Bypass surgery since I am morbidly obese. She says it should help reduce my insulin intake and perhaps help with the neuropathy in my feet. If anyone else has experience with this, I would appreciate your response.
Thanks,
Anna

Are you curious to connect with someone who has had bariatric surgery? I am crossing my fingers you will find some folks to connect with on this forum!
As a Dietitian who worked at a bariatric clinic for many years, I have seen how dramatic weight loss (as a result of bariatric surgery) can be life-changing. Many people who have diabetes have much better blood sugar control after gastric bypass surgery.
I wrote this article several years ago for individuals such as yourself who are wondering if it is the right decision. https://www.mynetdiary.com/considering-weight-loss-surgery.html
