Hi guys. I'm new to this group and am starting to see some progress with this program. I've lost about 8 lbs. in the past 2 weeks, and am looking to lose about 150. While I know I can't be cured of diabetes (I have Type 2), I am going to work on getting off of meds. I hope to be helpful to you and I am looking for your support.

Hi Everyone. I'm new to this group and I'm hoping to be able to connect with others who share similar challenges related to "living with diabetes". I was diagnosed almost 17 years ago at the age of 29. Since that time, there has been an ongoing dispute as to whether I should be considered a T1 or T2. For the first 2 years, I took a combination of insulin and medication, then multiple daily injections for 14 years and last August wast put on an insulin pump. I'm happy to report that in the last 8 months my HbA1C has dropped from being constantly above 8 to 6.7 and I have been able to lose about 10 lbs!
I know I have some more to lose but my challenge has always been to find a balance between food, activity and insulin. My blood sugars spike and bottom very quickly and what may work one day doesn't work the next. I'm getting very frustrated because I really want to get in better shape not just for myself but I have an 11 year old with special needs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I hope I am able to offer encouragement to others as well. Thanks for listening. :)
