My trainer has me on a high protein, low carb diet and wants me to snack consistently through the day to boost my metabolism. Any good ideas for low-carb snacking beyond the usual cut-up veggies?

I have found that the trick to snacking is to always have protein with your veggies - 1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese, Laughing Cow cheese on celery, Babybell cheese - even if you are not in the mood, and always 2-3 hours after a meal - it keeps the blood sugar even and prevents horrible cravings later. Even if you have to force yourself, it will pay off.

String cheese is a great snack too and you can carry it anywhere.

I get the pre packaged 1 oz servings of almonds so I dont over consume. They're is a coco sprinkled almond pack so it is a great filler and satisfies my choc/sweet cravings.

Here are a couple of my favorites...hollow out cherry tomatoes and fill them with mayo and bacon...a bread less BLT. Also cut jalapeƱos in half (long ways). Remove seeds and membranes fill each with cream cheese and wrap with bacon and bake. These are probably better for after the first few weeks of low carb diets..I am currently trying to keep under 30 carbs per day so it's either snacking or wine. So...
