Weight lifting calories burned counting Topic

Hello all

When I log exercise in the apk, particulary "Weight - Resistance (weight) training, multiple exercises, 8-15 repetition at varied resistance", how are the burned calories calculated?

When I log 45 minutes in that apk entry, it gives me 232 calories burned. Are these 45 minutes effective lifting time (TUT - Time Under Tension) or are these 45 minutes also including (estimating) resting periods of, lets say, 1.5 minutes between sets, and/or 2 to 3 minutes between exercises?

For me is important to know because if it is TUT, then I only workout effectively around 15 minutes per each 45 minutes session = 77 calories burned; Unless this log already takes takes in consideration the rest periods and in that case I burn around 232 calories, according to this log entry.

Many thanks for the attention, Cheers !

I'm not sure how the app calculates it but I have found that using a heart rate monitor, I burn approximately 250 calories in one hour of lifting. That is for the full hour including rest periods, racking weights, etc. So, 232 is fairly reasonable but possibly on the generous side for 45 minutes of lifting.

Hi Alex B- The amount of time entered for your lifting workout should be just lifting time or TUT. I would not include rest periods. Hope this helps! Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)
