I have struggled with weight for over 40 years - at 55 I was fed up - logged my calories, ate a healthy diet for 6 months at 1200 calories a day - lost 6 pounds in 6 months - at 289 I felt it was hopeless. Started the hcg1234.com diet on June 1, 2010 - today I weigh 180 down 109 pounds, it was effortless, and fun as I was only on the drops for 3 weeks at a time and ate what I wanted in between. I tweeked the diet to give it more variety and it still worked well. The hcg1234.com drops do not have the hcg hormone in them - they are a combination of amino acids. I won't put the weight back on because the protocol is to weigh yourself every day and if you gain 2 pounds from your lowest weight you immediately have a steak and apple day and take the weight off. This diet gave me my life back and everyone I have recommended it to has had the same fantastic results I have.

The Weight Maintenance Calorie Calculation for MyNetDiary seems too high. I have been using the program for about 20 days now and my weight (and my average body fat % readings according to multiple measurements at different times of day on my scale - which I consider just a general estimate with a +/- 1-2% error, has not changed either).

I know there are several possible reasons:

1) Under counting my calories. I've been very diligent about entering accurate amounts for EVERYTHING I eat though.

2) Over counting my exercise calories. The program has been giving me numbers that are about 20% what the readout on my elliptical trainer reads. I did calorie calculations based on my average heart rate, age and weight and MyNetDiary seems pretty accurate in this record.

3) I've gained muscle, but this would mean my body fat % should be coming down.

4) The weight maintenance calorie calculation is too high.

I believe (4) is the most likely cause. Here's my stats:

Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 184 lbs
Age: 44

For My NetDiary the Weight Maintenance Calories are as follows:

Sedentary: 2554
Low Active: 2822

This is suppose to be using the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies formula.

However, I've used several other calculators on the Internet. For example, one that uses Harris-Benedict Equation (http://www.acaloriecounter.com/diet/calorie-maintenance-calculator-daily-calorie-requirements/)

With the same stats, this calculator give me:

Sedentary: 2,178 calories
Light Active: 2,495

That's a BIG difference. Based on my calorie logs, and the fact my weight or body fat percentage has not come down.

I have been averaging around 2100 NET calories (after factoring in exercise) per day. I believe, conservatively, my lifestyle is probably halfway in between sedentary and the recommended light active setting. This would be around 2650-2700 weight maintenance calories according to MyNetDiary, and about 2,300 according to the Harris-Benedict Equation. That's only a 200 calorie deficit or about 0.5 lbs per week. This is probably well within the margin of error for food and exercise calorie estimates, considering the scale fat % is unreliable, and that I may have built some muscle, based on the Harris Benedict calculation, I indeed should not have lost any if maybe a little weight.

Based on MyNetDiary's calculation I should been losing close to a pound a week or close to three pounds.

So I think the calculation is high. In order to compensate, I've set the lifestyle to sedentary even though in reality I'm probably closer to low active.

Just to clarify, the exercise calorie counts MyNetDiary gives are 20% LOWER, than my elliptical trainer. I've been using those lower figures as they are much closer to the calculations using my average heart rate during the exercise. So I'm confident I'm not entering too high of exercise calories. Besides the numbers are usually 100-200 calories per day (hate working out just to work out) so big picture wise, an error in the exercise count wouldn't have much of an effect anyway.

My apologies, didn't realize I was posting this within the HGC topic. Please disregard my last two messages. Forum interface and functionality seems a bit limited - including the ability to delete a post.

My doctor put me on HCG and it was the most amazing experience. I have lost in one year 4 months approximately 160. I have gained nothing back. I don't crave the sugar and carbs like I used to and I have learned to LOVE veggies. It was a life changing, diet changing, lifestyle changing thing for me. I went from a size 24 to a size 12. I am able to exercise regularly now that I am off the drops. I am off my diabetes and cholesterol medications and I have never felt better.

I am doing HCG drops and love it. I am on day 5 and down 7.2 lbs. I like that it suppresses my appetite so that I can eat the required foods on the list. I also take B12 and vitamins. I am on my first round and am following the protocol with no problem. Anyone else doing this and would like to share how they are doing?

My husband and I did the HCG diet eight years ago. I did the drops. He did not. He lost 20 lbs and I lost about 15. 500 calories a day was too little for me. I find it interesting that my husband lost more weight without the drops. It does work for quick weight loss.

I am taking the HCG drops now. It suppresses my appetite but I am doing an 800 calorie diet with it. Lost 12 lbs. so far. It is helping me to eat healthier for sure. I am finding the weeks I am not losing fat I am losing inches.

Hi KatLosesWeight-
Hope your tracking is going well!

We at MyNetDiary want you to reach your weight loss goals in as healthy a way as possible! We suggest eating at least 1,200 calories/day, spread evenly between meals and snacks, and at least 60 grams of protein. By fueling your body in this way, you may lose weight a bit slower but you'll meet your macro and micronutrient needs.
