Hi everyone,
I am new to Net diary . Trying to get healthier and lose weight. I am doing low carb right now and everything is homemade. No more packaged or pre-made foods. Some days are hard and I do miss my snacks :). I found that joining support groups are more than helpful.
So glad to meet you all

Hi All,
I've used MyNetDiary for a few years I'm and off. Now I'm on it daily, having become serious about weight loss due to elevated blood pressure. I've dropped some weight - 252 lbs to 234 lbs, and I am thoroughly excited about how much better I feel! Being 6' 2" I can hardly understand why the charts show my optimal weight to be 193 lbs - that's just too drawn and skinny. Still I am targeting 200 or 205 and, with cardio and weight training happening I am encouraged to continue toward better health! So tonight I've joined your group, anticipating greater involvement and focus on this while I go the final lap toward the goals. Cheers.

I just joined because motivation is a major part of accomplishing our goals. I'm 64 years old and have been overweight for about 40 years. I got up to 295 lbs (6 ft tall maie) and knew I had to do something. It took me two years to get to 285, not too impressive. I have Diabetes and IBS so getting the right food mix was critical. My wife got MyNetDiary and lost 30 lbs and is now on maintenance. So I decided she would be a good coach and on Dec 3 I started using the application. I set my limit at 1800 calories and have tried to stay around 1400 - 1500 most days. I am now at 263 so lost 22 lbs since Dec 3. I also started walking 1.5 miles a day and am moving towards 2 miles next week. My goal is 199 lbs. So 64 lbs to go. My name is Ken.

Just make sure that they have the same login information. I have mine on my windows pc (this is a website not an app) and an app on my android phone (this is the diabetes version) and the pro version on my iPad. They all sync up fine.

I joined a while ago, but haven't taken advantage of the community function. I decided I needed some like-minded folk to talk with about this though so here I am.
I turn 50 next month, and over the last couple of years, my bp and sugar levels have started creeping up. Part of it is genetic, but part of it is falling into bad habits.
Part of the issue is once we moved here (Pittsburgh from Philadelphia), I never re-established a real routine to incorporate exercise into my life. I had it in Philly, but haven't been able to get there here.
I prefer walking, yoga, and tribal belly dance over any other type of exercise. Biking is fine but the hills in the area kill me (yeah... a sign I should probably work up to serious biking). I am trying a free row class Saturday morning. We'll see how that goes.
The other part of my issue is that I love good food and recently have been having portion control issues. That's getting back under control, but it's hard. If it's a favorite meal or tastes really good, I won't portion it out correctly or will go back for seconds before waiting for my brain to catch up.
Weight has been a general challenge most of my adulthood. I had some good success with Weight Watchers years ago and even managed to get through a Couch to 5K program before arthritis developed in my feet and ankles. I'm using the tricks and tips I learned from there to help me now, but am missing that "buddy system" and community provided by Weight Watchers.
Heh... that was long. If you made it all the way through, thanks for reading!

Thanks for the information. I share many of your concerns - hills and bikes don't go together in my book - I'll take up serious cycling if I move to Holland ! In the interim it's walking and jogging, though I might try tribal belly dancing

Is anyone still in this group? I see no one has posted in a year. This pandemic has destroyed my weight. I really need a good support system.

I just joined this group! I just saw that no one has posted on here for a long time! But I’m right there with you- the pandemic has just made me gain even more. It’s just a lot. I’m hoping that I do better with this app than I go with others.
